The DJI Agras T40 is one of the best-selling agricultural drones worldwide. Launched in October 2022, the T40 found the operational balance the agricultural market needed: 40-liter tank, 20-meter spray width, omnidirectional radar for safe operation in obstacle-laden fields, and support for both liquid applications and solid granular spreading.

For mid-to-large scale farming operations looking to bring drone application in-house rather than contracting third-party services, the T40 represents one of the most balanced cost-efficiency points available.

Spray System: 40L and 20m Width

The T40's spray system delivers approximately 16 hectares per hour of operational efficiency, making it approximately 30–40× faster than manual backpack spraying. The 20-meter effective swath width — achieved with the active phased array radar guiding boom extension — covers more ground per pass than the T25's 9-meter swath, reducing the number of flight lines required to cover a field.

Omnidirectional Radar

Unlike the T25's front-and-rear radar, the T40 has omnidirectional radar coverage including bottom detection. This enables safer operation in fields with terraced borders, irrigation channels, power poles, and other lateral obstacles that the T25's limited detection might miss.

The radar also enables terrain-following mode: the aircraft automatically adjusts altitude to maintain a consistent spraying height above the crop canopy even over undulating terrain — critical for uniform application rates.

Dual Function: Liquid and Granular

With a payload swap, the T40 operates as a granular spreader supporting fertilizers, seeds, and granular pesticides up to 50 kg per load. This dual-function capability extends the drone's utilization beyond just spraying operations.
