The DJI Matrice 30T is the most complete inspection drone in DJI's lineup below the Matrice 350 RTK: four detection systems integrated into a single fixed payload — a 12 MP wide camera, a 48 MP zoom camera with 200× hybrid zoom, a 640×512 radiometric thermal sensor, and a laser rangefinder with 1,200-meter range. All in a 3.77 kg IP55 body with 41 minutes of endurance.
Four Systems in One Aircraft
The power of the M30T is the sensor integration: operators don't need to carry multiple drones or swap payloads for different inspection tasks. A powerline inspection that requires visible light zoom, thermal anomaly detection, and precise distance measurement from a single flight can be completed with one aircraft and one operator.
The 200× hybrid zoom (12× optical + additional digital) enables license plate reading, equipment label inspection, and structural detail examination from safe standoff distances — reducing the risk of aircraft loss near energized infrastructure.
The 640×512 thermal sensor with radiometric capability measures absolute temperatures, not just relative heat signatures. This is essential for substation inspection, solar panel hotspot detection, and building energy audits where temperature quantification (not just visualization) is required.
The laser rangefinder (up to 1,200 m) enables precise distance measurement from the aircraft to the target, valuable for accurately mapping the position of defects, calculating standoff distances, and generating accurate inspection reports.
Comparison with the Matrice 350 RTK
The M30T is a fixed-payload integrated system; the M350 RTK is a modular platform. The M30T is faster to deploy and requires less configuration expertise. The M350 RTK supports heavier and more specialized payloads (full-frame cameras, LiDAR) and has greater endurance. For inspection operations that benefit from the M30T's specific sensor combination, it's the simpler operational choice.
